Located in Alert Bay
Since 1986 we have operated ecologically friendly tours in the pristine waterways of Queen Charlotte Strait, Johnstone Strait (Robson Bight), and Blackfish Sound. This area is considered the best place to find Northern Resident Orcas. Due to the return of the Humpback whale, these gentle giants, along with the occasional sighting of Minke and Bigg’s (Transient) killer.
Join us as we step back in time and explore the pristine ocean, islands and passages. One never knows what is around the corner: perhaps an Eagle poised on a cedar branch, or a harbour seal balanced on bull kelp, basking in the sunshine. It is here where the pace of life slows down and the simple beauty of the natural world can be witnessed.
Our vessel is a 30 foot motorized boat which carries 12 people maximum. We pride ourselves in offering the more personalized approach to whale watching. The small group sizes offer more intimacy with the wildlife and an opportunity to interact with the skipper who is experienced in the local area as well as the fauna and flora. The boat has a marine toilet onboard and provides enough space so when stationary guests are welcome to move about the boat to take photographs and enjoy the dynamic scenery and wildlife. It is a perfect whale watching platform.
* Each tour is approximately 3 to 3.5 hours long, dependent on conditions. Please note that a tour leaving from Alert Bay is usually slightly longer than departures from Alder Bay.
