Find Out About
Stakeholder Information

Vancouver Island North Tourism has been established to focus on the promotion of tourism as a region. The project represents the communities of Alert Bay, Coal Harbour, Holberg, Port Alice, Port Hardy, Port McNeill, Quatsino, Sointula, Telegraph Cove, Winter Harbour and Woss, as well as surrounding wilderness areas within the Regional District of Mount Waddington.

Given the geographical distribution of tourism products and communities offering tourism services, promoting Vancouver Island North regionally allows for a coordinated effort, a pooling of resources, and a larger impact for marketing programs.

Further Resources on Stakeholders

The marketing and business plans for Vancouver Island North Tourism are guided by the Vancouver Island North Tourism Advisory Committee (VINTAC), an advisory committee of the Regional District of Mount Waddington. The VINTAC membership are volunteers that represent tourism stakeholders, First Nations, strategic appointments by sector or geographic area, municipalities and the Regional District. The Vancouver Island North regional tourism plan was originally developed with a Tourism Planning Group from the region, through the Community Tourism Foundations (CTF) program of Tourism BC. The original plan was written in 2007, with updates in 2008. The CTF program revisited this plan, in cooperation with regional stakeholders, and presented an updated report in 2011 and 2015. The original and updated plans can be seen below.
