The Oceanfront Hotel is conveniently located on the waterfront in the heart of historic Sointula. With beach front access you can walk from the ferry or your kayak to our door. Your room overlooks the Broughton Strait and the fabulous view to Port McNeil. We have the most amazing sunsets and you can go to sleep with the sound of the waves lapping below your patio door. Some of our rooms have fireplaces, patios and heated bathroom floors and towel bars. Bring your kayaks and paddle right from your back yard. Don’t forget your camera.
The Whale’s Rub Pub is a great place to hang out and talk to the locals. You can visit the library of vintage books and check out the Gallery showcasing the fabulous art of local carver Ryan Pakkalen and other Sointula artists. We also have a beer and wine store and a cash machine in the lobby. We take credit cards and email too.
There are amazing hiking trails on Malcolm Island and you can walk undisturbed beaches for as far as you can go (if the tide’s out). Have a visit to the lighthouse or to the whale rubbing beaches at Bere Point. The museum is very interesting and the thrift store is always fun to shop in. We can tell you where the best hiking trails are and then you can return for dinner at the Ravintola in the hotel or try one of the other local restaurants.
