A little oasis at the end of the road, San Josef Heritage Park campsite is a little park-like camping area with grassy swaths through the woods and little camping alcoves carved out. Most have tables and fire pits. Amenities are limited, it is recommended that you bring your own drinking water (non-potable fresh water is available onsite from the creek). Please be prepared to pack out what you pack in.
This site is located up stream from San Josef Bay along the San Josef River. There is a BC Parks’ boat launch that is accessed via San Josef Heritage Park. It is for canoes/kayaks and small car-toppers only. The San Josef River is tidal at this spot so if you are planning to access the Bay via the river, make sure to plan on launching at a high tide to avoid hauling over gravel bars. Bookings are available on a first come, first served basis.
