Kingfisher Wilderness Adventures offers four- to fifteen-day small-group kayaking expeditions through some of western Canada’s most spectacular coastal wilderness areas along the coast of Northern Vancouver Island. Guests paddle alongside whales and other abundant marine wildlife, explore remote inlets, and experience the breathtaking landscapes that make this region world-renowned.
With over 25 years of experience, Kingfisher’s certified guides combine strong safety standards with a deep knowledge of the coast’s wildlife, ecosystems, and cultures, helping create meaningful and memorable wilderness experiences for every guest. Our trips are designed to be accessible to a wide range of guests, including those with little or no prior kayaking experience, while still delivering an authentic wilderness adventure.
Our multi-day tours feature our remote base camp experience in the Johnstone Strait, where guests enjoy comfortable wilderness accommodations, hearty meals, and an immersive connection to the surrounding environment, all set within an old-growth rainforest overlooking the ocean.
Our five- to fifteen-day expedition tours are more nomadic in nature, as we kayak between different wilderness campsites. Some involve camping in the forest, others on pebble or sandy beaches, and on some trips, tent platforms on rocky points. The exact locations used on each trip depend on factors such as group size, wildlife viewing opportunities, and weather conditions.
Tours run from mid-June to mid-September and take place along Northern Vancouver Island, the Great Bear Rainforest, and Haida Gwaii.
Whether it’s watching humpback whales surface nearby, encountering orcas in the wild, or simply taking in the quiet beauty of the coast, a Kingfisher trip offers an unforgettable experience in one of the most pristine environments on Earth.
