Where Does It Come From?

Our oceans are increasingly polluted with items that do not belong there. Every day, large quantities of consumer plastics, metals, rubber, paper, textiles, derelict fishing gear, and lost vessels enter the marine environment. This influx of marine debris has become one of the most widespread pollution problems facing the world’s oceans and waterways.

Who is Ocean Legacy?

The Ocean Legacy Foundation (OLF) is a Canadian based non-profit organization that was founded in 2013 with the goal to end ocean plastic waste.

As an internationally recognized leader in plastic pollution response, OLF has rebranded their dynamic approach and solution-based platform in combatting plastic pollution under the new program title of EPIC on June 8th, 2019 during World Ocean Day.

In collaboration with Nestlé Waters Global, this international plastic management strategy will integrate existing and futuristic elements from OLF’s four pillars: Education & Research, Policy and Advocacy, Infrastructure Development and Cleanup & Restoration, to catalyze world-wide action around plastic pollution-free lands and oceans.

The purpose of the Plastic Pollution Emergency Response program is to target ecologically sensitive geographical locations and communities that have a plastic pollution crisis, as well as inadequate management capacity for solid waste and plastic pollution.

About the 4VI Social Enterprise Group

The 4VI Group has a mission to ensure travel is a force for good — forever. Headquartered on Vancouver Island, the organization takes a holistic approach to its work through the use of four pillars of social responsibility: businesses, communities, culture, and the environment.

The 4VI Group is a creation of three entities: 4TVI, a non-profit corporation that supports the needs of communities through government-funded work in the Vancouver Island Region; 4EVER Strategies Inc., a for-profit corporation that delivers sustainability, storytelling, and strategy services for clients; and 4GOOD, a charitable giving directive to help increase contributions back to the Vancouver Island Region.
