North Coast Trail
For those wanting to take their backcountry hike to the next level, The North Coast Trail provides a highly challenging and unbelievably rewarding adventure. Spend 4-7 days hiking this 58 kilometre trail and experience the raw beauty of Vancouver Island's rugged north coast. Most people start the North Coast Trail by taking a water taxi from Port Hardy to Shushartie Bay, a scenic ride with whale watching and other great photo opportunities. This is a true backcountry adventure and is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the best coastal hikes in the world. This is no walk in the park: It's not recommended that you tackle the trail without previous backpacking experience.

This is a remote, backcountry trail. Always make sure you are well prepared for your trip. Visitors to the park should bring their own supplies, be self-sufficient and pack out what you pack in. Follow the three Ts—trip planning, training, and taking the essentials. bcparks.ca/visiting/responsible-recreation
